STEM4Change is a movement to provide comprehensive STEM education to all children and their parents, schools, and/or communities.
At STEM4Change we focus on the two inflection points that will change the trajectory of the American experience. First, the isolation brought on by the coronavirus made us realize that we must evolve our educational system to include remote learning. Second, the protests and subsequent riots illuminated the fact that racism is alive and well entrenched in our people and systems.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” said Nelson Mandela. STEM education is essential for a 21st-century education, workforce development, economic development, and the overall well-being of our country.
In July 2019, predating the events of 2020, two high school siblings, Ronak Dhingra and Sonia Dhingra, published an article in the Scientific American that nailed how to move to lasting change!
---“We must ensure that children of all [kinds]—rich, poor, male, female, Native American, Hispanic, African American, Asian, White, straight, or LGBTQ—feel a sense of belonging in [STEM]. Studies and anecdotal evidence from many sources, including the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, show that the lack of a sense of belonging can have far-reaching effects on student performance in STEM classes in school, college, and graduate school.”---
And so, STEM4change is a movement to provide comprehensive STEM education to all children, period!
